The initial learned lysergamides came from a fungus termed ergot that can be found on rye together with other grains. This fungus consists of equally lysergic acid and a precursor of LSD, ergotamine. Ingestion of grains that contains ergot led towards the ailment named “ergotism”, which wreaked havoc throughout the change of the first millenniu
